Do You Use Your eBay Listings To Build A Mailing List?

As an eBay seller, WHY should you pay even think about something like building a mailing list?

Because you don't want to be like the people who have sold hundreds and thousands of products and missed the profits from selling untold more hundreds and thousands of products.

And you want to increase your sales without increasing the number of eBay listings you pay for.

How? With a mailing list you make sales not only to people who bid on your products, but those who just look at the listing but never bid.

You turn yourself from a product seller who makes sales to bidders to a relationship builder who makes sales to non bidders. And one who makes them without paying eBay commissions.

A mailing list is a relationship builder. When you build relationships you are more likely to make more sales to more people.

Once you try this and see how effective it is, you quickly become more interested in building your mailing list rather than making a sale. You list products and craft your listings to build your list. Sure you want to sell, but the product becomes an attractant. It becomes a “loss leader” whose purpose is to “get them in the door” so that you can make other sales.

Here is a more detailed explanation by example.

Suppose you sell model trains and you sell on eBay.

One of the pieces that you list gives you a $50 profit or so each time it sells.

Every time you sell you have a customer that you hope will buy from you again, one way or another.

But suppose you craft your listing so that people join your mailing list. And suppose that your listing is seen by 1000 people.

Now depending on how you set up your offer, you may see up to 5 or 6 percent of the people sign up. Lets say for this example that 3 percent do.

That means that you now have 30 people to whom you can send offers for other products.

And let's say you list 10 items per week. Your list grows by 300 per week. Or 1200 per month.

You mail useful information about model trains. You build relationships and trust. And you include offers for products. And you sell them WITHOUT eBay fees.

What do you need to do it?

1. An autoresponder - Information about them is at Five Reasons An Autoresponder Is Good For Your Business.

2. A teaser to get people to sign up to your mailing list. How to do that is at How To Use eBay To Build Your Mailing List
